RICHARDS PARTING WAYS WITH VILLA

Counting from October 15 of 2016 until the time of writing this article, which is October 26 of 2017, that’s a time-lapse of over 1 year where the English defender has not made a single competitive appearance for his club Aston Villa.

The last time that Micah Richards represented Aston Villa in an actual match was against Wolverhampton back on October of 2016 and from there on out, Richards has had to settle with a place on the sidelines as an unused substitute player.

WHAT NEXT FOR MICAH RICHARDS?

Micah Richards has done so much for Aston Villa.

His name is up there in the list of players that saw the club through its recent darkest days upon relegation from the top flight. The player skippered the club through its first relegation from the Premier League, after joining in 2015.

With the club now in the Championship, there are reports that he might move to Nottingham Forest. When Champions League winner Roberto di Matteo was tasked with the responsibility of helping the club back to the Premier League, he decided to freeze out the defender. Richards played just two games before Steve Bruce took over in October.

Ritchie De Laet became the first choice in the right back role while Alan Hutton and Leandro Bacuna ranked higher than Richards in the pecking order. He eventually got some game time when De Laet was sidelined on a long term basis, getting his first game against Wolves. Since then Bruce has been naming him in his substitutes’ list even though he rarely calls on him.

WALKER GETS SHIRT NUMBER #2

Manchester City have unveiled their latest addition Kyle Walker.

The top rated defender joins from Tottenham Hotspur is what might make him the most expensive defender in the world. The England international agreed a five year deal with the Etihad to become the third new face following earlier additions of Bernardo Silva and Ederson.

The deal is reported to be £45 million with add-ons taking it to £50 million. Some other reports claim the deal would cross the £50 million benchmark, eclipsing the deal for David Luiz when he moved from Chelsea to PSG for £50 million net in 2014. Walker is a top player who is expected to hit the targets of Premier League and Champions League to unlock the added funds in add-ons.

“I am thrilled to be signing for City and can’t wait to get started. Pep Guardiola is one of the most respected managers in the world and I feel he can help me take my game to a new level,” Walker said.

Micah Richards is suffering in Aston Villa and he needs a resurrection

Micah Richards is a player that used to perform in the Premier League at a consistent basis and at a high level as he was a performer of Manchester City a few years ago but the English defender has slowly been losing his influence and impact in the world of football.

The veteran defender spent 10 seasons performing with Manchester City before being released on June of 2015 where he consequently would join Aston Villa and his career would start to experience a decline.

Even with the arrival of Micah Richards, Aston Villa was relegated to the 2nd tier English football league, the English League Championship and in the 2016-17 season, Richards only made 2 appearances and now his future is up in the air.

The contract of Micah Richards in Aston Villa extends until 2019 but considering his lack of playing time and almost non-existential role in the English club, other clubs could take this opportunity to swoop in and sign a player who has experience competing in top competitions including the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.

Steve Bruce Confident of Aston Villa’s Promotion Chances Next Season

Aston Villa have been one of the inform teams in the Championship after having taken four wins in the last five games. They have been even better in terms of form over the last nine matches.

A run of seven wins in these matches has led to the club moving into the 11th spot in the Championship table. It has been a huge improvement from the club, which appointed manager Steve Bruce as the replacement for Roberto di Matteo back in October. While results did not show an immediate improvement, the former Hull City manager has been making a lot of noise about promotion over the last few weeks.

The club’s aim to win a fifth consecutive league game ended with a 1-1 draw with Burton Albion. Even then, the club have been able to move one step closer towards the play-off places. There are only five games left in the campaign and Aston Villa are 11 points behind Sheffield Wednesday.

He admitted that it had not been an easy season for them as they have failed to be consistent at times. He believes that Aston Villa can play some great football, but the problem is that they often lose concentration and concede some cheap goals.
