Manchester City full back Micah Richards has backed Joleon Lescott after he was repeatedly omitted from the starting lineup by the City manager Manuel Pellegrini. Lescott has only played in eight matches out of the 24 matches which City have played so far in the Premier League and he was also left out in the clash against Chelsea where the home team lost to Chelsea by a goal to nil. Trinity Mirror has indicated that the winning percentage of Manchester City has been much higher when Lescott has featured in the playing eleven than when he has been sidelined.

Reportedly there was a bid for Micah Richards from Liverpool in the January transfer window but City has rejected the bid saying Micah Richards is not for sale at this moment. He has been a valuable defender over the last few years and has been the key to so many clean sheets which City has got so far.

Although Richards himself has not been really active in the recent times after the inclusion of Demechellis in the full back position he has full confidence on the manager and hopes that the call could come soon. David Ottewell the head of data journalism of Trinity Mirror tweeted about the statistics of Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards and said that it is a mystery why the duo are not getting selected for the first team.

Anarticle was also published regarding this where he clearly said that the statistics clearly indicates how important Lescott is for the team. But the fact that City is doing well without them is another reason why people are not questioning about Pellegrini’s decision to not include them in the starting lineup. Manchester City is about to face Chelsea in their fifth round tie in the FA Cup and it is to be seen whether the manager makes a change in the back four or not or whether he sticks to his regular team with Kompany and Demechellis handling the heart of the City defense.
