Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has spoken about a possible recall for Tammy Abraham with the England national side after continuing his good run of form against Middlesbrough on the road. The Villains have been one of the in-form teams since the beginning of November and they continued the good run against Tony Pulis’ men over the weekend where they picked up a 3-0 win.

Following the game, Smith said that Abraham may only be plying his trade with the Under 21s at the moment but it may be long before he makes the jump into the senior squad with the current run of form, he told: “Tammy Abraham is playing for England U21s at the moment and is and around that. Whether he gets to go and play for the full team or gets a call up, who knows? All he can do is keep working hard and do what he is doing with us. “He has made people sit up and take note by scoring seven goals in four games.”

Abraham has netted seven goals from the previous four Championship matches and out of those, four came during the recent high-scoring 5-5 draw against Nottingham Forest. Despite the promise, he has not quite managed to excel with the same level of performance in the Premier League after struggling with Swansea City during the backend of the previous campaign and that could become the main factor towards him returning to the national team fold.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea are apparently considering the prospect of recalling him from his temporary stint in west Midlands at the turn of the year but the Villains remain hopeful of convincing the Blues to honour the season-long loan agreement. Chelsea legend John Terry, who is currently the assistant manager at Villa, is likely to play a key role in the quest to keep hold of the marksman.
