The 28 year old English defender of Aston Villa, Micah Richards has consistently been linked with Sunderland as the Premier League club was believed to be interested in reinforcing their defensive department after having conceded 69 goals in 38 matches during the 2015-16 season of the Premier League.

Sunderland just barely managed to avoid the bottom relegation zone during that season of the top tier English League and David Moyes wants to avoid going through another season where they just barely manage to scrap above the relegation spots.

This is why Micah Richards was being viewed as a suitable summer target as he is a player who can solve some of the bigger issues that Sunderland has been experiencing.
According to latest news however, it seems like Micah Richards is not going to be making a transfer to Sunderland as David Moyes is now instead being linked with other players instead of him.

Micah Richards has a release clause of £5 million but this price tag is not expected to be reached by the recently appointed head coach of Sunderland, David Moyes.

However, this does not mean that Richards will be staying with Aston Villa as he might still be offloaded to another club shows interest in signing the English defender but something that appears to be confirmed at this point is that Sunderland is no longer interested in securing the services of Richards.

Sunderland’s David Moyes has recently stated that he will not be able to complete all of his desired transfer activities in this summer transfer window and the Scottish manager wants to solely focus on the specific players that are expected to make a huge impact in his squad as well as the targets that his squad needs most and this might be one of the reasons of why Micah Richards is not a priority target compared to others.
